The Bichot family has been established in Burgundy since 1350. Founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot as a wine trading business, Domaines Albert Bichot currently owns six outstanding estates throughout Burgundy. The wines come from Burgundy, Beaujolais and Chablis. Albert Bichot is one of the Top 3 Burgundy producers worldwide. They have 105 hectares, 87 of which are certified biologique.

Albert Bichot has received several accolades, including Head Winemaker Alain Serveau’s Best Winemaker Awards from International Wine Challenge.

The first traces of the Bichot family date back to 1214. They settled in Burgundy in 1350, in their stronghold of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. The family's coat of arms has not changed since nor has its symbol, a doe.

In 1831, Bernard Bichot founded a wine trading business in his name in Monthélie. His son, Hippolyte, succeeded him and bought the first vines in Volnay, already convinced that upstream control was essential. His son, Albert Bichot, the first to bear the name, gave the family business new momentum in the late 19th century and settled in the center of Beaune once and for all in 1912.

The second Albert Bichot, who was born in 1900, was a pioneer of international commerce. North America, Asia, Oceania… He traveled incessantly in order to introduce our wines, which were already recognized as being among the best, to wine lovers around the world.

In the second half of the 20th century, his four sons, Albert, Bernard, Bénigne and Jean-Marc, inherited this know-how. A new era of expansion began with the construction of a large aging cellar, a new bottling center and winery. Our wines are available in all of the world's continents.

Argyle is the only winery in the world to be named to Wine Spectator’s Top 100 for Sparkling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Wines for the dinner include:

Argyle Vintage Brut 2018. Willamette Valley, Oregon

A warm and dry summer lead to a concentrated, yet vibrant 2018 sparkling wine vintage in the Willamette Valley. Knudsen Vineyard, protected in the deep volcanic soils of the Dundee Hills, brings supple depth and elegance, while Spirit Hill Vineyard, in the windy and rocky volcanic soils of the Eola-Amity Hills, brings energy and minerality. Orchard fruits, citrus peel, and toasted brioche are framed around a creamy center and long, graceful finish.

92 points Wine Spectator

Argyle Rose of Pinot Noir 2021, Willamette Valley, Oregon

100% Pinot Noir grown in the Eola-Amity Hills, this rosé shines with lively red fruit, elegant flowers, and focused length. Picked over 5 beautiful days in early September, the wine is layered with depth and textural nuance through aging on its gross lees for 5 months before bottling.

91 points Wine Enthusiast

Argyle Chardonnay 2021, Willamette Valley, Oregon

A snapshot of the vintage for Argyle Chardonnay, we’re getting the true picture of this dynamic grape. Opulent and fresh, textured and lifted, this year’s blend of Estate fruit offers enticing orchard fruit ready to enjoy.

92 points Wine Advocate

Argyle Pinot Noir 2021, Willamette Valley, Oregon

Ranging from juicy red cherry to blackberry and evolving with exotic spices such as star anise, peppercorn and black tea, the Willamette Valley Pinot noir displays the true nature of place. In part of fermenting in small vessels, we extract pillowy and refined tannins while preserving the striking acidity of the cool climate, youthful and age worthy pinot noir.

91 points Wine Spectator

Markham Merlot 2019, Napa Valley, California

Our Estate Vineyards provide the backbone to this vibrant Napa Valley Merlot. Aromas of plum jam and coffee emerge from the glass, enhanced by toffee and cedar notes from oak aging. Juicy black cherry flavors on the palate meld beautifully with a rich, velvety dark chocolate character on the long, round finish.

92 points James Suckling

Markham “The Altruist” Red Blend 2018, Napa Valley, California

Crafted predominantly with estate-grown fruit, Merlot provides the juicy, velvety core to this Bordeaux-style blend, framed by Cabernet Sauvignon’s weight and power. A dash of Cabernet Franc adds floral aromatics, while Malbec and Petit Verdot round out the palate with juicy boysenberry and radiant color. Delicious and opulent.

61% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot

Elegant nose of raspberries and cassis. Raspberry & black currant.  Very fine and persistent pinpoint bubbles that tease the mouth and lovely finish of crisp, round, fruity flavors.

2016 Chateau Laribotte

Winemaker Notes

Brilliant golden robe. Attractive complex nose of acacias, white flowers, lemon, and a touch of honey. Light, fruity mouth with flavors of candied fruits and dry apricots. Long on the palate with backbone, reflecting good acidic balance. Excellent ageing potential. Serve chilled as an aperitif, and with foie gras, white cheeses, and savory desserts.

Varietal Composition: 95% Semillon, 4% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle

Critical Acclaim

WE 90

Wine Enthusiast

Located in Preignac, the closest of the Sauternes vineyards to the Garonne river, this estate produced a light style of Sauternes, with a good balance between acidity and rich orange-marmalade flavors. The botrytis is restrained, allowing room for a more citrus acidity to come through. Drink this young wine from 2022.

2018 Laroque Chardonnay

Winemaker Notes

Aromatic nose of white peaches, white flowers, melons, ginger and toasted brioche bun. Fresh and lively in the mouth with a bright, acidic backbone.  Generous length with delicate texture, flinty mineral thread and creamy notes of vanilla, brioche and hazelnut.        (continued on next page)

Served chilled with seafood, poultry, veal and pastas, or sip it as an aperitif. Sustainably Grown.

Critical Acclaim

JS 89 - James Suckling:  Fresh apricots, nectarines and a touch of some five spice. Medium-bodied and quite oily, but lacking in some acidity and definition.

2018 Laroque Pinot Noir

Winemaker Notes

Earth and fruit aromas with a fruity sweetness and dried spices on the nose.  The mouth is charming, juicy and straightforward. Medium tannins linger on the finish along-side a hint of roasted cocoa nib.  An excellent option for those who enjoy a more gentle and approachable style.

Serve it with tagines, oriental dishes, pastas, poultry, barbecue, red meat and cheese plates.

Critical Acclaim

JS 91 - James Suckling:  Really good freshness and drive to this pinot, which shows tart cherries, cranberries and some violets. The palate is quite full-bodied and fruit-forward, but there’s just the right combination of acidity and firm tannin to keep it in check.

2017 Chateau Lalande

50% Cabernet Sauvignon
50% Merlot

This is an elegant wine from the owners of Château du Glana. Its tannins are still young, promising balance with the ripe black-currant fruits. Structured and complex, the wine will develop much further.  Drink from 2022. Roger Voss

Estate

Chateau Lalande is situated in St Julien de Beychevelle next to Chateau Talbot and Chateau Lagrange (3rd Cru Classe).  One of the most famous wine producing regions in the world, Bordeaux is home to both cheap, bulk produced wines, as well as some of the most respected and expensive producers too.  The majority of it is red grapes which, when blended together are known as a claret, or a ‘Bordeaux blend’.  It does also make sweet wines (most notably Sauternes) and dry whites too, known as ‘Bordeaux Blanc’.

The Bordeaux wine-producing region is divided by the river Gironde into the Left Bank and the Right Bank. Left Bank blends are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which thrives on the gravelly soils there.  The regions of Haut-Médoc , Médoc, Pessac-Léognan, Margaux, St Julien, St Estèphe, and Pauillac are all found here.  Over on the Right Bank the Merlot grape is more dominant, producing softer style wines from the regions of Saint-Emilion, Fronsac, Lalande-de-Pomerol and Pomerol.
